C.1940 Art Deco scalloped round sterling silver travel charm was purchased as a souvenir ~ memento of a trip to the First Eastern National Park established July 8, 1916 (47,000-acres) located on the rugged coast of the State of Maine.
Maine's nickname is The Pine Tree State. The pine tree is featured on Maine's flag, seal, and state quarter. Vintage stepped design souvenir charm features what else??? a PINE TREE in the center!
Highly Collectible silver travel charm is marked "STERLING" on the reverse and has the diamond shape Hallmark of 'Bates & Klinke' founded in 1919 in Attleboro Massachusetts by Harold Bates & Oscar Klinke. This company made souvenir charms for national parks and other tourist attractions all over the country. Early souvenir charm MEASURES ~ 5/8 Inches in Diameter excluding loop for a pendant chain or charm bracelet and is in VERY GOOD CONDITION! Image is sharp - has not been polished in many years & displays old patina that attests to its age.
