AUTHENTIC piece of Modernist Silver jewelry was made by AMERICAN studio designer Joseph A. Skinger who sold his jewelry out of a store in his barn in Stowe, Vermont...he died unexpectedly in January of 1967.
RARE Hand Crafted Bar Pin has 3 primitive cut-out FISH swimming across it. Skinger was a sculptor as well as a silversmith and is well known for being the originator of the "Slalom Ring" - although there were many imitators (including Ed Levin). The Danish Modern design of "Silver by Skinger" is similar to silver earrings, rings & pins made by Merry Renk during the 1950's & Ed Levin during the 1970's.
Vintage Sterling Pin MEASURES ~ 1 5/8 x 1/4 Inches & is Stamped "STERLING" and "Skinger" in script lettering on the reverse. Modernist Studio piece is in VERY GOOD CONDITION direct from a Central NY estate. Retains FULLY Functional Locking Clasp, Pinstem & Hinge on reverse... has not been polished recently & retains Old Untouched Patina which could easily be removed if so desired.
