Czechoslovakian Perfume Bottle 1920's Crystal Glass w/ Hoffman Intaglio Stopper
This is a wonderful marriage of a beautiful intaglio stopper and a black crystal Czechoslovakian perfume bottle. The stopper is almost a perfect fit. If it were the mate it would have fit perfectly as these were hand sanded to fit perfectly, and with a half twist the stopper would stay in place. This stopper which, is gorgeous, does not move in the neck of the bottle. The stopper is perfect and heavy crystal with a lovely lady and cherub. This is not one of the reproductions. The work in this is just like a piece of art. The stopper a Hoffman stopper, and it looks as though there is a butterfly on the flower, which would make it an Ingrid stopper. Hoffman's grand-daughter. Really pretty. The bulbous black glass bottom is in very good condition with a few tiny, minor flea bites on the inside of the neck, and I'm only saying that to be real precise, as they are quite small.
The geometric cut crystal bottom is not marked, but it is an obvious 1920's-30's Czechoslovakian bottle. If a perfume bottle came in a "set" only one of the pieces had to be marked for export, so that is why you will find some of the bottles unmarked. But I know Czechoslovakian bottles well and this is not a reproduction. There is some scratches on the bottom which is typical of any bottle of this age. If you turn the stopper just a specific way it will "catch" and stay, but it is a marriage...and a happy one!! The bottle with the stopper is 6" tall and the bottom part is 3" wide.
