Vintage compact in very good condition. The gold metal is perfect. Still has it's case although it has wear it has protected the gold metal, fan shaped compact. This compact is in Roselyn Gerson's Book, "Vintage and Vogue Ladies Compacts". The one in her book is white. The compact metal is in super condition, but a little moisture must have gotten to the mirror on the bottom edge.
No scratches on the metal. Quite pristine on the outside. Flowers etched in the metal on one side. The powder has its guard, and some hard powder but no puff. It is 4 1/4 inches across. Even the inside has a lovely scrolled design on it. Melissa's was a company that produce vanity items in England.
This would not be from the 40's. Not sure if it is from the 30's or 50's. Metals weren't used in the 40's for non essentials such as this, due to the war effort. Likely 50's because it is gold metal which wasn't used for a decade! This won't disappoint. Better in person.
