Rare antique perfume bottle with a stained bee stopper in two colors. The beautiful and perfect label, Art Nouveau in design, still resides on the front of the Toilet Water bottle. The logo label, with a "B" for Brown, also remains on the label, and the bottom label that states "Toilet Water".
Brown and Brothers of Baltimore, Maryland started their business in 1854 first making home products including chewing tobacco which was one of their main sellers. Then in 1892 they applied to the patent office and started a perfumery division making soaps and toiletries and perfumes. I've seen two dates for this particular antique perfume bottle, one was trademarked for 1904 and another in 1914. "Violet Simplicity" is the name of the toilet water.
Apparently, a large fire took their business from them in the early the 1920's. l
The antique perfume bottle is in excellent condition with the molded glass stopper of flower and bee. One teeny pin point size spot on top of stopper but it took a magnifying glass to find it. We always try to be extra thoughtful when describing. Wonderful. Very nice at 5 1/2 inches tall and 2 1/2 inches wide. Stunning and extremely rare.
