Antique, Champleve Enamel French wall mirror with Marble base. Champleve is a French word for "inlaid enamel". This is full of bright and contrasting colors. It is in perfect condition. The back has a thick piece of brass or bronze that holds it up. It has a stand on it to sit back on, like a frame does, on a counter space. I am showing this exquisite piece on my large buffet with books and other things to show how large it is. It may be hung as well.
The beveled mirror, enamel and marble stone are all perfect. It is an antique, the seller told me it was probably from 1845-1880, which goes along with when Enameled French Champleve was made. This is another piece that reminds us that, "They don't make things like they use to." Stable, well built and made with the highest of quality.
It is 16" tall and 12" wide. The beveled mirror part is 8 1/2 X 5 3/4. Look at the wonderful detail in the enamel. I love how the design crosses over the mirror. It is exquisite. I've never seen another like it. It is not marked. It weighs about 12 pounds. There is also a place in the back that has a hole where it could be hung on a wall. Unique, elegant and gorgeous.
