Locket Pendant in Sterling silver which is a Vinaigrette locket. Please note this does not come with the chain, but it shows what it looks like on a chain. It is marked A925 on the inside of the sterling locket. Vinaigrettes were made to allow women to smell something other than foul odors and kept them from fainting. A piece of cotton or fabric was soaked in ammonia or perfume and placed into a locket, such as this, and would last a long time.
This one has a lovely cut amethyst stone on the front and made sterling but looks like it has a few steel rivets in the design. The latch makes me believe it is older but I'm not certain. Vinaigrettes came back between 1960's and 80's in form of necklaces with open lockets and some with solid perfume inside. The pendants are collectible.
It is 1 1/4 inch with the bail and the pendant part is an inch. Nice intricate design. I will clean it more on the inside for you before sending.
