Artwork pendant in sterling silver with the stones being Coral or Carnelian. The work of Jewelry Designer of Samuel B. Although this has been stored for sometime it is in new condition with tags still hanging from it.
Samuel B. has designed jewelry for 30 years now and uses precious and semi precious stones and precious metals. He is quite well known. When I investigated this particular piece, all his red I found in his jewelry designed the red "stones" were "coral". The outer stones match a coral necklace I own, the inner, larger stones are more of a blood red. The only other stone that comes close to this color is Carnelian which is a type of agate.
On the label of this pendant it is marked Made in India. The piece itself is marked 925 which is the purity of the sterling silver. 925/1000. There is no chain.
It is a lovely and intricate piece of art work and the coral is cut. A darker color of coral with each set stone in a slightly different of the dark red.
Samuel B. does say that some of his semi precious stones are enhanced for stability and color, hence fillers and dyes can be used in the piece. Lovely. Most coral is dyed or manipulated for today's market.
Never used and comes from an estate of jewelry that was mostly admired and seldom worn. The lovely pendant is 2 inches long with the bail and 1 1/2 inch circle.
