Vintage paper mâché round lidded box decorated with what appear to be maple trees. I believe it to be Japanese in origin and dates to the early to mid part of the twentieth century. There are a few spots where the lacquer is worn off. One on the inside and also around the edge of the rim see photos. Nice vintage condition for its age, nothing major. It measures about 6 1/2" in diameter and about 2 1/2" high. When I found this box it was full of old sewing notions, not sure if that's what its intended purpose was or not, nonetheless a great paper mache trinket box.
