Vintage Cloisonné Pendant Necklace Blue Bird Flowers Lavender Silk Tassel

This Pretty Vintage 1960’s Cloisonné Pendant Necklace features a lavender silk corded necklace and long tassel. The pendant is round and domed on both sides. The pendant features the same design on both sides. The scene features a blue bird perched on a branch amidst an array of vibrant flowers and leaves. The necklace secures with a barrel clasp.

The vibrant enamel colors include: Cobalt Blue, Green, Brown, Peach and Mauve. The bright gold outline adds a bit of sparkle.

Measurements: The Pendant measures 1 3/4” in diameter. The Lavender cord measures 26” Long. The Tassel is 5 1/2” Long.

The word “Cloisonné” is used to identify the technique as well as the finished product.

When making the Cloisonné, firstly, the metal is shaped for the body of the piece and secondly, the pattern is overlaid on the body by oblate and thin brass wires which are bent to create the design and to keep the colors separated. Then the inlay pattern is filled with enamel glaze material in different colors. The last procedure is the firing over and over and finally the polishing.
