Rare Antique Schafer & Vater Mad Hatter Figural Creamer Alice in Wonderland Porcelain Bisque

This Extremely Rare and Whimsical Antique “SCHAFER & VATER” "Mad Hatter" GERMAN FIGURAL CREAMER is very cleverly designed.

This Wonderful Whimsical Creamer is made of fine porcelain bisque and features hand-painted pale green and dust rose colors, with gold trim highlights. "The Mad Hatter Pattern” Creamer features a man wearing a top hat, tails, gloves and a bowtie, designed in a greatly exaggerated form. The man is leaning against a Victorian Pitcher and serves as the handle of this creamer. Additionally featured are the fabulous raised floral decorations in two contrasting colors.

This Schafer and Vater German Creamer measures 4" in height by 3 1/2" in width at the widest point. It has a hand-painted 4 digit number on the bottom, of which I can read only the first number which is a 3 or an 8.

* The tea party is found in Chapter 7 and features Alice, the Mad Hatter, the March Hare and the Dormouse.

Excellent Condition. No cracks chips or repairs with the exception of a tiny, surface crack on the wrist.

Schafer and Vater introduced their Mad Hatter tea set, which was based on characters in Lewis Carroll’s “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.” This type of bisque porcelain figural was popular in the late 1800's to the early 1900's.
