Charms are for all ages. This Unique & Rare Sterling Silver Charm depicts Charlie McCarthy. The Dummy or Puppet Charlie McCarthy was the creation of Ventriloquist Edgar Bergen (1903–1978). Bergen first introduced McCarthy to radio audiences on Rudy Vallee's show in 1936. Charlie was MADE OF WOOD IN 1922 by puppet master Theodore Mack.
Charlie is sitting in his chair on a platform and his head moves back & forth. Charlie is called a “mechanical” charm because he moves. The monocle, top hat, bow-tie and evening wear just adds to Charlie’s Charm. There’s a tiny area of red enamel which represents the carnation in his lapel. In this case Charlie’s monocle is connected to a twisted, thick piece of black thread. Please see photos. The charm is highly detailed and in Excellent Condition.
You can hang this charm on a bracelet or from a necklace chain.
This charm is one of 35 that I will be listing. Please check back if you collect charms.
