This adorable late 19th Century vintage brooch features a hand crocheted black brimmed hat with ivory ribbon decoration. The ribbon is woven through the stitches around the brim. The brim can be worn up or down. An exquisite little black crocheted purse with a touch of lace is suspended from the hat. This brooch is in most excellent condition with the exception of a tiny stain on the ivory color ribbon which probably just needs a bit of soap and water.
The brooch secures with a safety pin.
This brooch is not only rare but quite unique. Again, the condition is amazing!
The Brooch measures approximately 2 7/8” L x 1 1/2” W.
Hand Work was very popular during the late 1800's into the early 1900's. In the 1880’s there was a revival of traditional handicrafts, a return to a simpler way of life. Respectable & well-bred young ladies were expected to master different forms of hand-work as part of their education, including embroidery, crocheting and needle work to mention a few.
This Brooch would make a desirable gift and could be framed. Perfect also in a doll house hanging from a hall-tree.
Your Brooch will arrive in a Purple Custom Twinkle in Time gift box & matching ribbon.
