Gleaming opalescent mother of pearl in soft shades of white, gold, pink and blue encase these exquisite opera glasses. In the latter half of the 19th century, all over Europe, opera glasses were essential accessories for theatre goers.

Fashioned from brass metal, these small binoculars are signed, Paris Le Maire FI, a leading manufacturer in Paris. The center focusing wheel allows you to adjust the glasses to bring far away images very close.

The glasses measure 2 1/2 high by 4 inches across, extending to 3 1/4 inches. They have three bridges and a smoothly rolling center focusing wheel. The glasses extend and retract well. The eye pieces unscrew and are removable for cleaning.

Elegant and functional, and in wonderful antique condition, with no damage and age appropriate wear (very minor wear to the brass), these glasses are as useful today as they were over 100 years ago.
