Elegant Script of the Time spells out “A Stitch in Time Saves Nine” around the band. The thimble ban is decorated with flourishes and fancy swirls. There is an ornate blank space or banner for a monogram and a “9” at the right hand edge of the banner – denoting the size. The thimble is in excellent condition, with no holes, creases or repairs, and is in round. A lovely example!
This handwork was done by one of Simons' master craftsmen, with details so fine that you will have to use a magnifier to see all. This thimble is a functioning work of Art to be displayed or used in your next sewing project!
From the late 1800’s - 1905 the inside is marked with the word “STERLING” and the Simons “S in shield” mark for Simons Brothers Co.
Dimensions are 5/8" in diameter and 7/8" high.
