These Rare & Fabulous Vintage Matched Set of Bronze Bookends depict Salome, (c AD 14 - between 62 and 71) who was noted to be the quintessential image of the femme fatale and the subject of many Fine Art Paintings and Sculptors.
The Bookends are in Excellent Condition and they have not been cleaned, retaining their glowing patina.
Measurements: 6 3/8” Tall x 4 5/8” Wide. The width was measured at the base.
Salome is beautifully figured pictured with her long flowing hair unbound, dressed in flowing veils. She is running with her male companion in a garden type setting of Art Nouveau Floral & Fauna. The scene is raised and stands out, catching one’s eye. Please see my photographs taken from the side.
These Lovely bookends are a fine example of the quality work produced by Gift House of New York City in 1927.
Signature / Marks: The following is found on the back near the bottom - “D40L - COPYRIGHT 1927 – GIFT HOUSE INC NYC”. In a box on the left side – bottom is scripted “BRONZE PAT JUL 22, 24”. The bottoms of both bookends have felt.
Excellent Condition. These Bookends are a Fantastic Decorator Piece and a Fine Addition to any Vintage Bookend Collection.
Please note that Shipping is a bit more expensive due to the heavy weight of this set.
