French wooden black vanity box or chest from 19th century was originally a small vanity table or chest with legs. Three small holes either side on the bottom of the box where they were attached using runners on both sides. Fabulous chest now as a vanity case on a vanity, jewelry box, silverware chest or a box with dividers and mirror for any number of uses. Hand painted floral designs on the top and front against a deep black background. Gilt designs in groups of 3 cover the other three sides.

Key hole with lock and no key. Very nice scrolled outline to the piece. The inside is papered with cobalt blue and gold design paper and three compartments in the base. The inside of the lid also papered with mirror in brass ornate frame. Good reflection to the mirror. Some wear as seen to the paper with minor spotting and a few worn spots in paper. The painting and exterior of the box in outstanding condition. Very sturdy.

Measures 18 L X 13 D X 4 H.
