Beatrix Potter's THE TALE OF PETER RABBIT, published by the Saalfield Publishing Co., New York, NY with a copyright date of 1916. However, believe to be a later edition; possibly early 1930's. Number 308 in the Saalfield series. Illustrations by Virginia Albert. Original dust jacket is in good condition, illustrations on dj front and rear colorful but chipping to front top edge, scrape at "THE" in the title, and chips to spine ends. Rear of dj has upper corner chip and crease line top and bottom of jacket. Jacket protected in clear protective mylar covering. Illustrated paper covered boards very good with bottom corner tip wear and top and bottom spine edges scraped. Black title lettering to front board and spine is very good and rear board mirror's same illustration as front board. Internally, illustrated end pages clean but age toned on one side and there is dated ink gift inscription to front end page. Otherwise, the text block is very clean with no writing, markings, loose, torn or missing pages and binding is tight. This book internally is very clean and pages supple. Full page color illustrations, one a double page color illustration, some full and in-text black and white illustrations as well. A very nice, well kept scarce edition of Potter's Peter Rabbit series. Height of book is 7 3/4" and width is 5 1/2". Unpaginated (no page numbers) and complete.
