Published by Frederick A. Stokes Company, New York, NY in 1921. A limited edition, this edition being #324 out of 365 copies produced and signed by the illustrator, Paul Bransom on the presentation page. This beautiful 485 page book of fables contains 24 tipped-in color plates along with 447 fables throughout the ages from many of the master storytellers. This book is in near fine condition with its' original dust jacket and stored in its' original pictorial container. The illustrated container is in very good condition with the container top taped at corners and edge wear to top of the seams. The front pastedown illustration is very good. Bottom portion of container is completely intact. The original dust jacked is also near fine with some loss of gilding to the title lettering and a tiny bit of lower corner tip wear to front of jacket.. The boards are clean and in great condition with front board having a lower corner tip bump and a couple of very small scrapes to outer 1/4 buckram spine covering. Vignette to front board in gilt, title lettering bright and clear and spine lettering in gilt. Internally, illustrated end pages clean and bright, tissue guard protecting frontispiece and all 24 color tipped-in illustrations bright and clean. Text block is straight with no spine lean, top edge of text block gilded and there are no loose, torn or missing pages and binding is tight. A beautiful, very clean copy of a wonderful and scarce book of fables.
Measurements are 11 5/8" in height and 8 3/4" in width. Unpaginated (no page numbers) with 485 pages as called for.
