This is a rare, red Schuco Fernlenk Auto 3000 in its original box with the accessories. The cherry red car has "telesteering" where the car can be steered using the small steering wheel attached to the car with a wire. This set comes in its original box with the car, wires, wood pegs, key and brown wooden ball and the original instructions (which are in German). The accessories are all contained in a tin "table" with holes for each piece. Schuco began making these tin cars in 1938.
This highly collectible vintage toy is in excellent condition. The car is shiny and looks to have been rarely, if every, used. The bottom of the car is marked "Schuco 3000" with patent marks and "Made in Germany" printed. The accessory table is complete except for two "paddles" that would have come with the set. These were used for setting up obstacle courses and do not effect the mechanics or working of the car. The wooden pegs come in red, yellow and green. The key is present as is the steering wheel. The instructions have some wear along the edges but are intact and completely legible. The wires have some kinks and one, I believe, has broken though I am unsure of how long each wire is supposed to be. The box has a tear on one side and some scuffing and bumping along the edges. There is an original price stamp from "OCC", which I believe must have been the store it was bought from. The original price was 2.50 though I don't know the currency. The box measures approximately 4 3/8 long by 3 1/8 inches wide and 1 3/4 inch deep.
This is a very fine example of the toys the Schuco company made and sure to be a treasure to any toy or car collector.
