These Victorian wooden picture blocks feature lithographed pictures of children and scenes on all sides. This set of six small blocks feature all types of children in play. Each has the name printed at the bottom of the picture. Names include: Maud, Jack, Belle, Rose, Harry, Howard, Mildred, Tom, Minnie and Walter. Two of the blocks the have faded and I can't distinguish the names. The edges of these six blocks picture flowers, birds, a little dunce boy and a comical dog with a yellow hat.
This set also includes a larger block which features a picture of a rose and a robin and has the letter "R" on one side and the ampersand sign on it and pictures flowers and birds. The two long edges picture a soldier and what looks like the feet of a horse (it was obviously part of a puzzle set).
The smaller set of blocks measure 3" x 1 3/4" each. They are in good antique condition with scuffing and rubbing as is to be expected of a toy of its age and give them great patina. The larger block measures 3 1/2" x 2 1/2" and also shows its age with scuffing and rubbing.
This set of seven block would be adorable in a shadow box, on a nursery wall or used as decoration in any room.
