This advertising calendar art features an embossed image of a large windmill set in a gilded oval frame. A man in a horse drawn cart stands talking to another gentleman. This scene is set on a background with a large, cascading rose and a delicate butterfly in the top left corner.
This artwork was a salesman's sample presented as an option for the business owner's promotional calendar. Various sizes and styles of art would be shown to the prospective customer. A printed monthly calendar would be affixed to the artwork of the owner's choosing and then presented to customers for the coming year.
Calendar artwork like this is rare to find in such amazing condition. Because of the nature of a salesman's travels these pieces would be handled often and packed in suitcases for transportation. This piece was obviously not one that traveled much, if at all, because it is in amazing condition. There are a few very minor spots of chipping along the edges and minimally bumped corners. Some minor spotting was probably caused from storage. The corners are marked "Printed in Germany 18263"
This piece of vintage ephemera measures 13 14 inches by 7 inches and will be sandwiched in-between two pieces of cardboard. It will be shipped First Class mail unless otherwise requested. Due to the delicacy of this artwork insurance will be required and therefore reflected in the shipping price.
A lovely piece of turn of the century art to frame or give as a gift.
