This lovely calendar art has a 3 dimensional panel that extends from the background. The Art Nouveau calendar art pictures two aristocratic ladies in all their finery. One has a large hat with cascading feathers, the other holds a bouquet of pink roses. The two women are framed by a gilded garland border.
The oval panel pulls out from the background which is much more subdued. The pale, pastel green panel is accented with a cream colored design and pale pink flowers. A stylized hole at the top would have a ribbon or sting through it to hang this fabulous piece on the wall.
This was a salesman's sample and would have been a part of a group of artwork presented to potential customers to choose from. A printed, monthly calendar would then be attached to the bottom of the calendar and used as a promotional advertising piece to give to customers.
This die cut calendar measures approximately 11 inches tall and is 6 inches at the widest point. This vintage ephemera is in good/fair condition. The paper is all intact as is the pull-out. The only issue is that there are splotches and soiling on the background. These may be somewhat cleaned but I will leave that to the next owner. The back is marked "NO.9198 CLASS-J" which was the number used to order this piece.
A truly lovely piece of vintage art that would be a lovely gift or framed to enhance any cottage or home decor.
