A vintage military pillow cover was bought by an army field artillery soldier usually at training camp to be sent back home to his parents. Popular in the 1940s and19 50s, these satin souvenir pillow shams were sent to loved ones and were a daily reminder of the serviceman's affection. This vintage decorative pillow cover features yellow flocked crossed canons and base name indicating this was a soldier in the army field artillery division stationed in For Sill Oklahoma. A flocked red and green rose design frames a yellow flocked Mother and Dad poem. The military gift is accented with bright yellow fringe.
Mother and Dad
No one knows but Mother and Dad
About the smiles and tears we've had
No other is willing and glad to share
Whatever we have of joy or care.
The pillow sham front is light blue satin and the back is a darker blue satin. This vintage pillow cover is in very good vintage condition. The flocking is intact and bright, the back is clean and the fringe is intact. There are some creases from being folded for many years but there is no yellowing or discoloration along the folds and they could be steamed out of will lessen when a pillow form is inserted. The throw pillow cover measures approximately 16 inches square. It does not come with a pillow form but one can easily be purchased at any home goods or big box store.
A sweet vintage military gift from a by-gone era.
