This beautiful Gutta Percha Union case features a 1" x 7/8" high relief cameo surrounded by a scalloped frame and ornate corners. There is a hatched design around the inside cameo frame.
The frame contains a tin type of two children--a young boy standing with his arm on the back of a young girl who is seated. The tintype is set in a gold-tone, oval frame that is quite ornate. There is a braid around the oval and scroll work in each corner. The outer frame is also decorated with embossed designs. The left side of the case features red velvet with an embossed design.
The back of the case features an embossed medallion with ornate corners. The case measures 3 3/8" x 3 3/4" and is 7/8" deep. It is in very good condition with no chips or cracks and a tight hinge.
A truly unique piece of the Victorian era.
