Mr and Mrs Claus were handmade in the 1960s. Each figure has a soap bottle base. This was a popular craft in the 1960s and many a grandmother had these on her mantle at Christmas. Santa Claus has a plastic face with his jolly red cheeks with his trademark beard. He wears a red cap with white trim and a shirt with a black belt and gold buckle. His clothing is trimmed in white. Santa carries a matching red bag to fit all the presents in and has a Santa tag in one hand. The tag has a cardboard plaque which I assume was originally there to write the name of the recipient of this figure on.
Mrs Claus has a cute plastic face with sparkling blue eyes and rosy cheeks. She has white hair which is swept up in a bun tied with a red satin ribbon. Her red velvet dress is accented with white fur trim. She holds a sprig of holly in one hand. She, too, has a Santa tag but the cardboard has torn and only a few small pieces remain.
Both figures can stand alone and are in very good vintage condition. Santa's head is a little wobbly. Their outfits are clean and bright. Santa stands approximately 15 inches tall and is 7 inches wide at the widest point. Mrs. Claus stands approximately 14 inches tall and 7 inches wide.
Mr and Mrs Claus are sure to be a lovely addition to your holiday decorating or a special gift for anyone on your list.
