"The Turning Of The Screw" was one of Henry James's best known novels. This Heritage Press edition was published in 1949 and features an introduction by Carl Van Doren and illustrations by Mariette Lydis. This vintage novel comes in its original slip case and has lovely sepia colored artwork throughout the pages. Originally written in 1897, James based this story on an account recollected to him by the Archbishop of Canterbury.
This collectible book is 145 pages in length. It has green board covers with a gilded silver title and graphic on the front cover and the title on the spine. This vintage book is in excellent condition as is the slipcase. There is a "From The Library Of" label on the inside front cover, but otherwise this book looks like new. The pages are clean and the binding is tight. The slipcover, likewise, is in excellent condition with a clean green covering and only the slightest bit of scuffing.
An excellent horror story told by James and eerily illustrated. A perfect gift for any Henry James devotes and a special addition to any literary library.
