"The Dragon's Tail" was written by Marion Howell Smith and illustrated by Fusako Huga. This rare, and hard to find children's book was published by The Shinozaki Shorin Press and contains a publishing stamp and title in Japanese on the last page. This vintage kids book is complete with its dust jacket. Mrs Smith wrote this book while her family was stationed in Japan during 1953 and 1954. The jacket's flap reads, "The Dragon's Tail depicts the life of a military family living among the Japanese people in Tokyo, who, like the average family with adventurous children have a daily crisis with which to cope. For many who have already returned to the states the unwinding of the tale will bring nostalgic memories." The book is beautifully illustrated with black and white illustrations as well as two brilliantly colored plates.
This hard-cover book has beige cloth covers with black titles. This rare children's book is in good vintage condition. There is an address label glued on the inside front cover. The pages have light yellowing. The pages are clean and the binding is tight. The dust jacket is in good/fair condition with tearing along the edges and spine and scuffing and lifting from a label. The book measures approximately 9 1/2 inches by 7 1/2 inches and will be shipped Media Mail unless otherwise requested.
A delightful, and unusual book that will be a brilliant addition to any children's literature collection or military memorabilia collection.
