"The Corner Store a Novel by Albert Idell" sets the scene for this work of fiction in a corner diner, in Philadelphia set in the 1930s. Signs for Breyer's Ice Cream, Phillies hand-made, and Coca-Cola. The store, owned by Chester Jones, was a focal point for for the neighborhood.
This hard cover, vintage book of fiction has a wonderfully illustrated cover reminiscent of Norman Rockwell's work (sadly, the illustrator is not given credit anywhere I can see). The book's board are cover with tan faux leather. The spine has the title printed in red. The inside pages are clean and the binding is tight. The dust jacket is good/fair condition with some tears at the corners, spine and spine's edge. The jacket is marked "Book Club Edition" on the inside flap and someone has noted Nov 1953 in pen at the top of the flap.
A sweet look back at a different time when the corner store was the hub of everything important.
