"The Little Golden Book Of Dogs", was written by Nita Jonas and illustrated by Tibor Gergely. This is an "A" First Edition and number 260 in the LGB series. Copyrighted 1952, this delightful vintage book describes various dog breeds in rhyme.
An example of rhyming for the Dachshund is:
The Dachshund's coat has a smooth glossy sheen;
Beneath his low body shor legs can be seen.
He looks like a sausage- he's funny to see,
But he's playful and smart a a doggy can be.
Each breed has its own little rhyme and it's fun to see how they rhyme breeds like Dalmation and Boston Terrier. The last pages give information on "How To Care For A Dog"
This vintage Little Golden Book is in good condition. It has illustrated board covers with the trademark gold binding. The front pictures a large dog surrounded by smaller pictures of various breeds in grey on a yellow-green background. The cover has some scuffing and scratching on the front as well as bumped corners. The inside pages are clean and slightly yellowed and the binding is tight. "Tony Carson" has written his name in pencil on the "belongs to" label on the inside front cover. This book measures the traditional LGB size -- 8 inches by 6 5/8 inches -- and will be shipped First Class Mail unless otherwise requested.
An adorable book to add to your LGB collection or give to a child with a new puppy.
