"Gray Smoke The Coyote Of El Coronel" was written by Charles Willard Diffin and illustrated by Alyn. This lovingly illustrated kids book was published by Garden City Publishing and copyrighted 1940. The book tells the tale of a little coyote pup that was adopted by "Jimmie Chicken" and named "Gray Smoke" for his gray fur. His father, "Big Chicken" was none too pleased. But as time progresses Gray Smoke and Jimmie form a strong bond.
