"Comic Capers" is a dime store toy from the 1940s that you can punch out and make into a rocking toy featuring Captain Marvel comic's Billy The Kid and his horse Paint.
This unused vintage toy is marked, "Tippy-Toy No. 4" and was produced by Fawcett Publications. The cardboard toy comes in its original brightly illustrated envelope and was part of the "Dime Line" sold in five and tens and dime stores all over the country. The directions for constructing the toy is detailed on the back of the envelope.
The front of the envelope reads:
They Read! They Gesture They act!
When the sun sets in the western sky and the mellow mysterious evening draws nigh Billy and Paint through Captain Marvel stories go as you gently rock them to and fro
The cardboard pieces are perforated but un-punched. The colors are brilliant.
The envelope for this fun vintage toy measures 10 inches by 7 inches. I have a total of 30 of these. Most are in excellent condition with bright envelopes. A few have a crease or tiny tear on the envelope or the envelope is a bit faded and/or yellowed. All the inside pieces are bright and un-used.
These would be perfect party favors or decorations for a Western themed birthday party. I am happy to give you a quantity discount. Just convo me before placing your order. This vintage toy will be packed with a cardboard backing and shipped First Class mail unless otherwise requested.
A fun vintage toy from an era long gone by.
