"The Four Seasons Cookbook" was written by Charlotte Adams with Special Consultant, James Beard. Copyrighted 1971, this is a first edition and highly collectible.
The forward reads: This is a highly unusual cookbook for the reason that it reflects twelve years in the history of one of the truly fine restaurants ever to grace the city of New York. Furthermore, the recipes are the work of a rare assemblage of chefs. The home cook is fortunate to have these special-ties brought within reach. Like the restaurant's menue, the recipes are based on the changes of the seasons and on the idea that certain food are best enjoyed in their own time.
This over-sized hard cover book has wonderful full-page, full-color photographs of some of the recipes as well as scenic shots of food during their appropriate season. The book is printed on very nice heavy weight textured paper with the photographs on glossy stock. The photography was done by Arie deZanger and the book was designed by Albert Squillace. This one of the most beautiful out of print cookbooks you will find.
The book is in very good vintage condition. The cover is comprised of white boards with an embossed title and image. The spine is beige cloth. There is some mild wear to the spine in the form of spotting and scuffing of the fabric. The cover has some mild soiling as well. The inside pages are clean and unblemished and the binding is tight. There is some speckling on the inside green end-paper from the glue that was used on producing this book. The book measures 11 3/4 inches by 8 1/2 inches and will be shipped Media Mail unless otherwise requested.
