"The Roosevelt I Knew" was written by Frances Perkins and copyrighted 1946. Published by Viking Press, this political memoir recounts Mrs Perkins work for President Theodore Roosevelt both as Secretary of Labor as well as her time before her appointment working for Roosevelt. Perkins served the President on many industrial and economic agencies as Secretary of Labor. She also worked in various public capacities in Albany for Roosevelt including as a lecturer in sociology at Adelphi College, executive secretary of the Consumers' League, director of investigations at the New York State Factory Commission and Commissioner at the New York State Industrial Commission.
