"Art Deco 1908-1940" was written by Jean-Paul Bouillon and published by Rizzoli International Publications. It is a SKIRA book and was copyrighted 1987. Art Deco was a large movement with international scope beginning in the early years of the twentieth century. This book is the first to demonstrate Art Deco's true scope, as an art movement overlapping with the Art Nouveau movement and carrying on where it left off.
From its origins in Vienna and Glasgow to its heritage of Cubism in France and the powerful current of new design that sprung up in the US from those like Frank Lloyd Wright, Joseph Urban and others; Art Deco had a distinctive attraction that extended to all the arts. From architecture, painting and sculpture to crafts and decoration the Art Deco movement is grandly illustrated in this amazing coffee table book. Filled with 170 reproductions in full color and 170 illustrations in black and white, this art book covers every aspect and country that the Art Deco movement touched.
