"Nursery Rhyme Land" was published by Ernest Nister of London. Number 3402 in their catalogue, this book was published by E P Dutton and Co. of New York and produced in 1912. This antique book features six full page, full color chromolithograph illustrations, four full page black and white line drawings and smaller black and white line drawings throughout.
Nursery rhymes include: "Polly, Put the Kettle On", "Merry Are The Bells", "See-Saw, Msthrty Daw" and many other well know and more obscure nursery rhymes read to children at the turn of the 20th century. The illustrations are by various, un-named illustrators. One of the black and white drawings is signed "Gordon Robinson" but I find no other signatures on the pictures.
This illustrated book has chromolith, full color illustrated cover with a green cloth spine. It is in good vintage condition (especially considering its age!). It has yellowing on the inside front and back end papers presumably from the glue that was used. There is minimal bumping of the book's corners and some light shelf wear at the top and bottom of the spine (although there is no fraying.) The pages are lightly yellowed. The binding is tight and the pages are clean. There is a crease at the bottom right corner of the back endpaper. The book measures 9 1/4" x 7" and weighs approximately 15 ounces.
A beautiful book to share or collect.
