"Designing for the Theatre A Memoir and a Portfolio" is a collection of Jo Mielziner's set designs for many successful and notable Broadway shows and films. The dust jacket reads, "Mr. Mielziner designed his first Broadway play in 1924. Since then he has done the designs for more than 250 productions and has long been regarded as one of the leading contributors to the American stage. His designs have been lavished upon a broad variety of plays ranging from Shakespeare to such outstanding musical comedies as South Pacific and The King and I."
This stated First Edition stage set book has white cloth covers with an embossed gilt title and a green cloth spine. There are numerous full-page color and black and white reproductions of Mr Mielziner's sketches and drawings.
This vintage book is in very good condition and is complete with its dust jacket. The book has a tight spine and clean pages. The dust jacket is in good/fair condition with some tears along the bop and bottom edges (see photo 1). The dust jacket is illustrated with a color drawing for the set of Death of a Salesman.
