This vintage book, "Eros" was a quarterly publication by editor Ralph Ginzburg and art director Herb Lubalin. This Spring, 1962 edition is Volume One, Number One.
This publication resulted in Ginzburg's 1963 conviction for violating federal obscenity laws. This edition includes a "Who Was Eros?", "The Blues of Blacks and Whites", "A Classic Dictionary of the Vulgar Tongue", "A Plea for Polygamy", "Manhood by Mailorder", "Love in the Subway", "Le Florentin Playing Cards" and "Madame Tellier's Brothel" to name just a few.
This hardcover book is full of photographs, illustrations and reproductions of artwork like Degas' Madame Tellier's Brothel series
This oversized book is in very good vintage condition. It has illustrated board covers with an inlay of one of the erotic playing cards that was part of the Parisian erotic playing card set. The cover and pages are clean and the binding is tight.
