"Gnomes" was published in 1977 and signed by both the author, Will Huygen and the illustrator, Rien Poortvliet. This wonderful fantasy book has an added bonus with a miniature "Little Gnome Facts" book included.

The book has its original dust jacket which reads, "Do you know that a Gnome is seven times stronger than a human? Or that his sense of smell is nineteen time more acute?....These and other fascinating real-life details --pictured in full color by the noted Dutch artist Rien Poortvliet--illuminate this first documentary portrayal of Gnomes(as distinct from Elves, Goblins, Trolls, Kobolds and Fairies."

Filled with full color as well as black and white illustrations of every aspect of the Gnome's lives. What they wear, what they eat, how they travel, their homes and much more are beautifully detailed in this vintage book. Written original in Dutch this book was originally entitled, "Leven en werken van de Kabouter".

This vintage book is in very good + condition. The dust jacket has one small hole, less than 1/4", at the top left. The pages are clean and the binding is tight. The miniature book was made to give as a gift and has an inscription on the front that reads, "To Jay It's a well gnome fact....that you're a swell brother From Lonna". It has an intended hole at the top of the Gnome's hat that might have been used as a gift tag. The tip of the hat on the front cover has ripped the hole off but a hole remains on the back cover.

A fun book for the fantasy lover or Gnome historian.
