"The Book of Indians" was written by Holling C Holling and illustrated by Mr Holling and his wife Lucille Holling. This beautifully illustrated book tells the story of Native Americans as Mr. Holling saw them in the early 1930s. Published by Platt & Munk it is copyrighted 1935.
Contents include: Something About Indians People of the Forests and Lakes Otter-Tail Goes Hunting Flying-Squirrel Gathers Bulrushes People of the Plains Buffalo-Calf and the Great Herd In the Days of Rides-Away-Tinkling and many more.
Mr Holling writes in his introduction, "We take the Indians as a whole and divide them into different types of Indians living in different kings of country. This is explained in the first chapter. In the rest of the book there are four chapters about the home life of Indian children and eight chapters relating their adventures".
This vintage hard cover book has red cloth boards with a black embossed title and illustration. It is in very good vintage condition with very little signs of wear. There is some light fading of the spine and minimal bumping of the corners. The pages are clean and the binding tight.
