"Pocahontas" was written and illustrated by Ingri and Edgar Parin d'Aulaire. The d'Aulaires also wrote and illustrated the Caldecott Medal winning books, "Abraham Lincoln". This historical picture book tells the t=story of Pocahontas. re-creating an important historical period of American history.
This well-known story tells the tale of Pocahontas who lived in the woods of Virginia when Captain John Smith from the Jamestown colony became acquainted with her. It tells of her adventures, spirit and eventual trip to England.
This illustrated childrens' book contains full-color as well as black and white illustrations throughout. The illustrations of Pocahontas and Powhatan, her father, is especially well done and makes you feel as if their presence is in the room.
This delightful vintage book was published by Doubleday & Company and copyrighted 1946. It is complete with its dust jacket and is in very good condition. The dust jacket has some staining which I blieve is from the red cloth on the spine. There is also a small rip at the top of the dust jacket's spine and a larger 2 1/2" tear at the bottom. The covers have a paste down picture over a red cloth spine. The inside pages are clean and bright and the binding is tight.
A delightful book to read at story time.
