"The Lincoln Readers Third Reader" was written by Isobel Davidson and Charles J Anderson with illustrations by Bernice Oehler. This vintage reader was published by Laurel Book Company and copyrighted 1922. This reader was touted as the most up to date reader for helping children become proficient in reading using the most recent scientific investigations on reading and learning.
The introduction to the children reads: This is your book! It is a practice book in silent reading. It is going to help you to become a better reader by showing you how to "Think Straight" through a story.
There are wonderful illustrations throughout of silhouettes, princesses, the first Thanksgiving and much more. The illustrations are in black and red.
This book has illustrated blue cloth boards. It is in good condition with very light bumping at the cover's corners. Even the bookplate is cute with a clown carrying a key. There is a previous owner's name written in ink on the inside cover page.
A fun vintage reader to engage your child or collect.
