Menaboni's Birds was written and illustrated by Athos and Sara Menaboni and published by Rinehart & Company. Copyrighted 1950, this first edition contains 31 full color plates of amazing birds in their natural habitats. Of the 132 pages many have black and white photographs as well as the color plates interspersed throughout.
Athos Menaboni is famous for his accurate depiction of birds of North America. Each color plate has a full description of the bird and its habitat. Also included are musings of his wife, Sara, about the circumstances of finding birds in the wild.
This over sized book has maroon cloth covers with a grey spine. It is in good vintage condition. The cover has some fading and there is a previous owner's address label on the first inside page. The pages have some light yellowing along some of the edges but are clean and the binding is tight.
A remarkable book for any bird lover.
