Collectors first edition Tasha Tudor illustrated book. The New England Butt'ry Shelf Almanac -- Being a Collation of Observations on New England People, birds, Flowers, Herbs, Weather, Customs and Cookery of Yesterday and Today written by Mary Mason Campbell and illustrated by Tasha Tudor.
This first edition, first printing published by The World Publishing Company and copyrighted 1970. The book is complete with its dust jacket. The inside flap reads, "Mrs. Campbell has chronicled the seasons, describing a bird for each month--its habits, feeding, song--and a flower--its cultivation and literary associations--and then chatting in a personal way about the landscape, historical events, and anecdotes of rural life."
The book is full of both color and black and white illustrations by the amazing illustrator Tasha Tudor. Her signature corgi dogs pop up throughout the book--helping with cooking, running on the sea shore.
The book is in good vintage condition with some water damage on the front cover and first few pages have wrinkled slightly from the water. (see photos) This does not detract from the overall enjoyment of this vintage gem. The book has blue board covers with a gilded title. The dust jacket is in good condition with some water damage and scuffing.
A fun book for New England lovers as well as Tasha Tudor fans.
