"The Spindle Top 1924 Volume VII" was published by the "Seniors of 1923 South Park High School" in Beaumont, Texas. Beaumont was the sight of the first oil gusher in the United States and thus the oil rig is the school's symbol.
This truly wonderful vintage year book chronicles the South Park High School students, their activities, athletics as well as the faculty and staff. The pictures are invaluable studies of fashion and politics.
The table of contents reads, "School", "Classes", "Organizations", "Athletics", "Activities" and "What's Left" (which is advertising). The soft board brown cover has an embossed picture of oil wells as this was the first place in the country to have an oil gusher.
The book is in good vintage condition. There is some light wear to the spine edges and bumping of the corners. The pages have some signatures from pals and the front page has the owner's name on it. The book is in black and white with the exception of the last page which is a full color illustration from the engravers or printers of the book.
