"Opus 2" is an early picture book by Mordillo, an Argentinian artist who began illustrating books in the 1950's and continues today. The preface to the book was written in French by Marcel Marceau. Marceu has said, "Mordillo's art is essentially a visual one. The unexpected bursts out like a punch of the fist: jokes are made in rapid succession as in the films by Chaplin, Keaton, Laurel and Hardy, or even the Marx Brothers and in some scenes, the illusion evoked by allusions reflect a spirit allied with own mime theatre, where action and gesture create a parabola."
Copyrighted in 1978 it was published by Fredrich W. Heye. The book is all illustrations. Great commentaries on life and our interactions. You may recognize these big nosed characters as iconic figures from the 60's, 70's and 80's. The endpapers alone are a work of art!
The book has illustrated board covers and is in good vintage condition. It has some separating at the spine and bumped corners. The pages are clean and the binding is tight.
Mordillo is a very collected artist today and his early books are true treasures.
