White Milk Glass Alligator Covered Dish which was made by Vallerysthal in the 1880's. The Alligator is one of the hardest Animal Covered Dishes to find. This one has been in my collection for many years & is signed Vallerysthal. It is 12" long and has been classified as a trinket box. It is in good condition for it's age. In fact the teeth are great as you can see in the photo. Main thing I can find is a chip on the rim of the base under the head, but it's mostly on the inside so isn't that noticeable with the lid in place. There is also a chip/flake on the rim at the leg which can't be seen when lid in place. There are the normal age lines on the rim and some small nicks & roughness which is to be expected on a piece of milk glass this old. The very top tip of the tail is rough. My Blue one which I am keeping in my collection is exactly the same in the tail area so it may be how they came out of the mold. I have another Milk Glass Alligator I am selling which still has about 95% of the original paint if you are interested in that. In the insurance cost I have added for adult signature required. This item is too rare to take a chance on incorrect delivery.
