Milk Glass Lion laying on a large Slab. It goes on a reed base, but I have never had the base. Have had it as a shelf piece in my collection for approx 15 years. This is similar to the Frosted Lion made by Gillinder & Sons in the 1880's so it's possible it is also a Gillinder piece. It is documented in the Ferson Milk Glass book. This one has red glass eyes put in. It is 6" long & has wonderful detail. This is a burst bubble on the rim at the back of the lion as well as chips on the underside of the rim & one on the rim toward the back of his paws. One oval end toward the back is chipped on the base. I have tried to photograph this damage. He makes a very good shelf piece since the damage is all toward the back. This Lion is seldom seen so don't miss out on it. I have the "matching" Dog on the reed base listed if you are interested.
