Metlox Poppytrail Golden Fruit Oval Platters in 11-1/4 inches size and 13-1/2 inches size, Made in California during the 1960s. This matching set of vintage Metlox Poppytrail Pottery Platters features their hand painted Golden Fruit Pattern in the center. This 1960’s pattern was perfect for Early American and Provincial decorating styles so popular back then and is done in shades of honey browns, cinnamon and spice with neutral shades of gold and a coordinating ¾-inch border band in the lightest shade of mustard. I love the dark brown curly tendrils on grape stems! The fruits and leaves form a striking image against the creamy white glazed pottery. This handsome pattern was first issued in 1960 and discontinued in 1971.
Both platters are in very good to excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or crazing; however, smaller platter has a few small light spots of discoloration; large platter has a black pinhead size dot on its rim. These are minor factory flaws.
Largest platter measures 13-1/2 inches long by 10-1/4 inches wide and 1-1/4 inches deep.
Smaller platter measures 11-1/4 inches long by 8-1/4 inches wide and 1-inch deep.
Bottom of both pieces is stamped in black, “Poppytrail by Metlox, Made in California” and have tiny kiln marks, typical for their pottery.
