Syracuse China Restaurant Ware Econo-Rim Dinner Plate Railroad Pattern 50875. This beautiful vintage Onondaga Pottery Company Syracuse China Econo-Rim Restaurant Ware Dinner Plate in the 50875 Pattern features a wide floral pattern in rosy red, embossed scallops and a thin rosy red edge band. Syracuse introduced the narrow-bodied "Econo-Rim" series which was tailored for the cramped table space of railroad dining cars. It was designed by R. Guy Cowan in 1933. For decades, O.P.Co. manufactured 70% of the nation's railroad china.

Plate measures 9 inches diameter and is marked on back in green, "Syracuse China Econo-Rim, 3-U, Trade Mark Patented" which indicates it was made between 1933 and 1967.

This pretty plate is made of heavy restaurant ware quality china and is in excellent condition with minimal surface wear, no chips, cracks, crazing, or discoloration.

For those who are interested in Syracuse China history: The company was founded in 1841 as Farrar Pottery and was bought out in 1868 and the name was changed to Empire Crockery Manufacturing Company. By 1871, it was changed again to Onondaga Pottery Company (O.P.Co.) and eventually to Syracuse China Corporation in June 1966, however the china produced by the company was back stamped with the Syracuse China logo since 1895.
